Education Information

Recommended Reading (previously known as Course Notes):

The purpose of the Recommended Readings is to provide you with a valuable resource to reference in the workplace. It's important to understand that these readings are not designed to mirror the instructor's class presentation. Rather, they serve as supplementary material for you to access and utilise when you're back in your workplace. In many cases, the instructors' presentations go beyond the content covered in the Recommended Readings.

Your recommended readings will be available to download in the Membership Portal - click here to log in.

*Please print your own copy of your Recommended Readings if you prefer using a hard copy. There will be no printed copies available at School.

Class surveys:

Class surveys are compulsory. You will receive an email towards the end of each session and be given some time to complete these. If there are any technical issues, please advise one of the VMA Team at the VMA Secretariat immediately.

Focus Groups:

On the last day of the program (Thursday), you will be given the opportunity to participate in a Focus Group. The Focus Groups present the opportunity for students and instructors to review the week and provide valuable feedback in a discussion format. If you wish to participate in a Focus Group, place your name on one of the Focus Group forms which will be placed on the noticeboard during school week.

Mantra and Peppers Noticeboards:

There will be a noticeboard outside the Mantra and Peppers classrooms. The VMA Team uses these noticeboards to provide up to date copies of Programs, Transfers, Wednesday Afternoon Activities, Focus Groups and other relevant information.

Please ensure you check each day as they are updated regularly.

Town Hall (Year 2 Only):

As a part of VMS you will be participating in a Town Hall … which is an opportunity for you to ask questions of the Town Hall Panel.

We have an amazing calibre of instructors facilitating the Town Hall session.

At its essence, a town hall meeting is exactly what it sounds like … members of a community coming together to discuss an issue or issues of common concern. Town Hall facilitators typically conduct town hall meetings to present and discuss the latest trends, issues and challenges which may impact specific venue sectors or discuss an emerging issue of concern. In either case, the primary purpose of these town hall meetings is to discuss information within the venue management community.

So now is your opportunity to think about some questions you would like to discuss with the panel.

The Town Hall session is scheduled for Tuesday 12th November. Prior to the session you will be asked to forward your questions.

Laptops and Tablets:

All students are encouraged to bring along their laptop or tablet to use during class. No recording or taking photos is permitted during class. Please ensure your device is charged at the start of each day. There will be a charging station at the back of your classroom.

Assistance/ Contacts:

The VMA Office is located in the Mantra Boardroom (near Reception) and is manned from 7:30 am. There are no after-hours/on-call doctor services in the area, the closest hospital is Tweed Hospital. If the matter is urgent, please call an ambulance and contact the VMA team.

A list of important and emergency contacts can be found in your Membership Portal.
